Established in 1954, Bean School of Dance has proudly served the Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach community for over 65 years. Founded by the beloved Joan Bean, our studio is now co-directed by her granddaughters, Kristin and Keeli Bean, who carry on her legacy and core belief: we are here to teach more than just dance.
While proper technique and training remain the foundation of what we do, our mission goes beyond movement. We are passionate about nurturing confident, well-rounded individuals—building character as much as we build strong, expressive performers.
BSD offers a diverse range of classes for dancers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced students, in a welcoming and inspiring environment.

Kristin is the proud owner and creative director of Bean School of Dance, a role she’s cherished for the past five years. Her journey with the studio began at age two on North 3rd, where she first fell in love with dance. From assisting classes in high school to leading them in college, Kristin has grown into the heart of the studio she now leads. She’d always rather be in the studio than behind the desk—most days, you’ll find her teaching her favorite tiny dancers in combo classes. Supporting the arts in her community is especially important to her. Outside the studio, she enjoys choreographing for local theater productions and working with the Miss Shrimp Festival scholarship pageant. Kristin is passionate about fostering a safe, inspiring environment where dancers of all ages can grow, express themselves, and find joy through movement.
Keeli is trained in all styles of dance and took a liking to musical theater thanks to one of her mentors, Lisa Clarson. She is currently a company member of Florida State College of Jacksonville's danceWORKS Company, and has attended Acrobatic Arts trainings, taken classes at Broadway Dance Center in New York, and attends multiple compet

Chrissy grew up nearby in St. Marys, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture and Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Studio Art from Georgia Southern University. Chrissy grew up nearby in St. Marys, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture and Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Studio Art from Georgia Southern University. After hanging up her architectural scale, Chrissy continued graphic design through freelance work as she grew her family. She and her spouse relocated to Amelia Island to raise their two daughters. Now a proud dance parent at Bean School of Dance, Chrissy draws on her background in design and project coordination to support the studio through administration, logistics, and graphic design. Her experience in managing design projects and her eye for detail help bring organization and visual polish, as she works to help BSD reach its full potential.
Hannah began dancing at age 4 and received her early training at Abigail Francisco School of Classical Ballet and LeCole De Danse. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Towson University, where she was a member of the Towson University Dance Company and studied under renowned instructors such as Linda Denise Fisher-Ha

A former All-State and All-County dancer, Hannah has choreographed extensively and worked with dancers of all ages. She is currently the Dance Director at Jacksonville Country Day School, where she leads an award-winning elementary dance program, and also teaches ballet and pointe at Bean School of Dance while managing their competition team.
Jenna was born and raised in Fernandina Beach where she started dancing at BSD at the age of three. By the time Jenna was thirteen she was assisting in every class she could. At age eighteen, she began teaching all on her own. Trained by the best, Jenna is still using some of the same material Ms Bean used in her classes growing up. J

Jenna obtained her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Jacksonville University in 2022. She will be moving to south Florida this summer to pursue an education in Dentistry.
Angelis has been dancing competitively for 10 years, beginning her journey at Bean School of Dance. A proud member of the Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2025, she has spent the past four years sharing her passion by teaching young dancers in a variety of styles. Currently, Angelis teaches beginner hip-hop and jazz/lyrical classes,

A proud member of the Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2025, she has spent the past four years sharing her passion by teaching young dancers in a variety of styles. Currently, Angelis teaches beginner hip-hop and jazz/lyrical classes, and she will continue to do so throughout the summer. In the fall, she will attend the University of South Florida, where she plans to major in Hospitality Management while pursuing a minor in Dance.
Sydney has been dancing for 15 years, with a decade of her training rooted at Bean School of Dance, where she now teaches Ballet 3. She is currently studying nursing at Jacksonville University, balancing her passion for dance with a future in healthcare. As her schedule allows, she plans to continue sharing her love for dance by teaching classes and supporting studio events.
Sarah Faircloth began dancing at the age of six and continued through age fifteen. She later joined the Oregon State University dance team during the 2008–2009 season and has stayed connected to the art ever since, taking classes wherever she could find them.
After graduating high school in 2008, she completed her college degree in 2015.

After graduating high school in 2008, she completed her college degree in 2015. Currently, Sarah teaches Lyrical levels 1/2 and 3/4, bringing a deep love for all styles of dance. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue with her Lyrical classes next year and is excited about the possibility of adding Jazz to her schedule. In addition to her dance background, Sarah is a licensed teacher in the school district, currently taking a break from the classroom.
While she doesn’t have any kiddos in dance just yet, she’s excited for her almost 2 year old to get started!
