Established in 1954, Bean School of Dance has proudly served the Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach community for over 65 years. Founded by the beloved Joan Bean, our studio is now co-directed by her granddaughters, Kristin and Keeli Bean, who carry on her legacy and core belief: we are here to teach more than just dance.
While proper technique and training remain the foundation of what we do, our mission goes beyond movement. We are passionate about nurturing confident, well-rounded individuals—building character as much as we build strong, expressive performers.
BSD offers a diverse range of classes for dancers of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced students, in a welcoming and inspiring environment.

Her journey with the studio began at age two on North 3rd, where she first fell in love with dance. From assisting classes in high school to leading them in college, Kristin has grown into the heart of the studio she now leads. She’d always rather be in the studio than behind the desk—most days, you’ll find her teaching her favorite tiny dancers in combo classes. Supporting the arts in her community is especially important to her. Outside the studio, she enjoys choreographing for local theater productions and working with the Miss Shrimp Festival scholarship pageant. Kristin is passionate about fostering a safe, inspiring environment where dancers of all ages can grow, express themselves, and find joy through movement.
